Beetroot lehya for blood health

Beetroot lehya for blood health

Beetroot contains fiber, folate and rich in iron. It is good for digestive system and promotes blood flow. Daily intake of a teaspoon of beetroot lehya helps to get all the benefits that beetroot can provide.

Ingredients:

  1. Beet root (grated)-2 cups
  2. Jaggery- 1/2 cup
  3. Ginger-2 inch
  4. Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  5. Black pepper- ½ tsp

Method:

  1. Wash and peel outer skin beetroot. Grate and transfer beetroot to a vessel (alternatively you can grind beetroot). Add very little ghee and fry a little, add little water and cook.
  2. Grate 1-inch ginger and add to turmeric
  3. In another vessel, dissolve jaggery on medium heat. Strain and transfer jaggery water to cooked beetroot.
  4. Add pepper powder and continue mixing till the beetroot mix gets thickens.
  5. Turn off the heat, cool and transfer beetroot lehya to an airtight vessel.

Benefits of beetroot lehya:

  • Reduces anemia, helps in blood circulation
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Promotes heart health
  • Provides vital vitamins, minerals and boosts immune system

Dosage: Take 1 tsp daily or alternate days to get benefit of beetroot.

Postdelivery remedy Fenugreek Lehya

Fenugreek is well known medicinal herb. All parts of the fenugreek plant are medicinally useful. Fenugreek seeds has multiple benefits and is used in culinary preparations as well as in home remedies.

Ingredients:

  1. Fenugreek seeds – ¼ cup
  2. Water – 1 cup
  3. Clarified butter – ¼ cup
  4. Jaggery – ½ cup
  5. Black pepper – ¼ tsp

Preparation:

  1. Wash and soak the fenugreek seeds in water for five hours.
  2. Strain water and grind soaked seeds to a paste.
  3. Transfer fenugreek paste to a vessel.  Place it on medium heat, add water and continue stirring.
  4. After 3-4 minutes, add clarified butter, powdered jaggery and black pepper.
  5. Continue mixing till the water evaporate and mix separates from the ghee. Turn off the heat.
  6. Allow lehya to cool down and then transfer to an airtight container.

Benefits of Fenugreek lehya:

  • Fenugreek lehya is good for nursing mother and is a postnatal home remedy to gain strength for new mother. It increases breast milk production and helps to absorb calcium and vitamins.
  • It is also good for digestion and improves metabolism. Hence this lehya can be consumed by others who suffer from indigestion and body inflammation.

Take 1 or 2 tsp daily to get benefit of Fenugreek.

Flaxseed is well known for its omega-3-fatty acids and is a friendly herb for balancing hormones, to promote cardiovascular health. Flaxseed also has culinary applications – flaxseed chutney powder, burfi, used in pudding etc. All these forms of flaxseeds have several benefits for various conditions. Ingredients:

  1. Flaxseed -1 cup
  2. Cumin -1/2 tsp
  3. Coriander -1/2 tsp
  4. Ginger -1 inch
  5. Jaggery – 1 cup
  6. Ghee- 2 tsp
  7. Water

Method:

  1. Dry roast flax seeds and allow it to cool. Prepare flax seed powder.
  2. In a vessel dissolve Jaggery, strain the water.
  3. On medium heat, place a vessel, add flaxseed powder, grated ginger, cumin, black pepper powder and ghee followed by jaggery water. Mix well till the contents cook and absorb jaggery water. Ghee should separate from mix as it thickens.
  4. Turn off the heat, let the mix cool. Transfer flaxseed lehya to an airtight bottle.

Benefits of flaxseed lehya:

  • Helps to control cholesterol
  • Contains fiber and helps in digestion
  • Reduces joint pain and increases muscle strength
  • Good for cardiovascular health and liver.
  • Good for hormonal balance, assists in fertility and menopause

Turmeric is loved by all. It is good for overall health. Promotes good health, good skin and useful for many conditions. Turmeric lehya provides same benefits and tastes better with other healthy ingredients.

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh turmeric root-5
  2. Jaggery- 1 cup
  3. Ginger-1 inch (optional)
  4. Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  5. Black pepper- ½ tsp
  6. Ghee- 2 tsp

Method:

  3. In another vessel, dissolve jaggery on medium heat. Strain and transfer jaggery water to cooked turmeric.
  4. Add pepper powder and continue mixing till the turmeric mix gets thickens and ghee separates.
  5. Turn off the heat, cool and transfer turmeric lehya to an airtight vessel.

Gotukola Lehya for brain health

Centella asiatica commonly known as gotukola is well known memory booster. Lehya prepared from gotukola plant is good for children and adults.

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh gotukola plants – Cut parts -2 cups
  2. Ghee – ½ cup
  3. Pepper powder – ½ tsp
  4. Jaggery – 1 cup
  5. Water – 1 cup

Preparation:

  1. Collect gotukola leaves with stem. Wash using water. Remove soil and debris.
  2. Cut leaves and stem into small pieces and grind.
  3. Dissolve jaggery in water on medium flame.
  4. Transfer gotukola paste into a vessel, add little ghee, pepper powder and mix well.
  5. Add dissolved ghee to gotukola mix and continue mixing the contents till the mix absorbs jaggery and thickens.
  6. Turn off the heat, allow mix to cool and transfer gotukola lehya to an airtight container.

Benefits:

  • Eating this lehya morning in empty stomach activates metabolism.
  • It is a good brain tonic for children and helps brain cells.
  • It is good for elderly too, as it helps to reduce memory loss symptoms.

Dosage: 1 to 2 tsp daily or alternate days.

Ginger lehya for lung health

Generally, ginger lehya is prepared during cold days – rainy and winter season (commonly known as Diwali medicine). Ginger helps to keep body warm and reduces infections. Ginger lehya is prepared during October- November months to help body to protect from flu season. It also prevents breathing issues by reducing inflammation.

Methods:

  1. Cut ginger – 1 cup
  2. Cumin powder – 1 Tbsp
  3. Coriander powder – 1.5 Tbsp
  4. Powdered jaggery – 1 cup
  5. Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  6. Clarified butter (ghee) – 2 tsp

Preparation:

  1. Grind ginger, cumin and coriander powder with very little water into a paste.
  2. Place a vessel on medium heat, add ¼ water. Dissolve jaggery.
  3. Dissolve ghee on medium heat, add ginger paste and mix well.
  4. Add dissolved jaggery, cardamom powder to ginger paste and continue mixing.
  5. After few minutes, ghee will start separating from the mix. Turn off the heat and allow mix to cool.
  6. Transfer lehya into an airtight container. Take one tsp of this lehya when you need it.

Benefits of ginger lehya:

Ginger lehya prevents infections and helps in breathing problems. Consuming half to one tsp of ginger lehyam during cold days helps to protect body from cold. It reduces inflammation and body pain related to fever.
Dosage: 1 tsp daily. Consuming more ginger lehya can cause irritation

  4. Add dissolved jaggery into cooked amla. On medium heat continue mixing, add pepper powder. Mix till the amla and jaggery mixes well.
  5. Cool amla lehya and transfer to an airtight bottle

Benefits of amla lehya:

  • Indian gooseberry is rich in Vitamin C. Consuming this lehya helps in various conditions.
  • It is an immune booster.
  • Reduces hair fall and promotes hair growth. Prevents gray hair
  • It is known as blood purifier

Dosage: 1 to 2 tsp daily or alternate days.

Lehya is a traditional herbal preparation, herbal jam form of herbal elixirs. Lehya, leha or lehyam used for curing or preparing body to fight different conditions. Various fresh or dry herbs, herbal parts like leaves, root, stem, seed or sometimes the entire plant is used for preparing lehya.
