Vaccine for RSV for babies

CDC Recommends New Vaccine To Help Protect Babies Against Severe Respiratory Syncytial Virus

Last week, CDC recommended the first respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine for pregnant people to protect their newborn from severe RSV illness. RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization for U.S. infants. This new vaccine, Pfizer’s bivalent RSVpreF vaccine (trade name Abrysvo TM), has been shown to reduce the risk of RSV hospitalization for babies by 57 percent in the first six months after birth.

To maximize protection for babies after birth, CDC recommends seasonal administration of one dose of RSV vaccine for pregnant people during weeks 32 through 36 of pregnancy.

The vaccine is one of two new tools we have this season to protect babies from severe RSV illness. Last month, CDC recommended a new RSV immunization for infants that has been shown to reduce the risk of both RSV-related hospitalizations and healthcare visits in infants by about 80 percent. Most infants will likely only need protection from either the maternal RSV vaccine or infant immunization, but not both. However, for example, if a baby is born less than two weeks after maternal immunization, then a doctor may recommend that the baby also receive the infant immunization.

“This is another new tool we can use this fall and winter to help protect lives,” said CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen. “I encourage parents to talk to their doctors about how to protect their little ones against serious RSV illness, using either a vaccine given during pregnancy, or an RSV immunization given to your baby after birth.”

The RSVpreF vaccine is available in some locations in the U.S. and availability is expected to increase in the coming weeks.

This is the first fall and winter virus season where vaccines are available for the three major respiratory viruses COVID-19, RSV and flu.

Updated COVID-19 and flu vaccines are recommended for everyone 6 months and older. CDC now recommends RSV vaccine for adults ages 60 and over, using shared clinical decision-making. This means these individuals should talk to their healthcare provider about whether RSV vaccination is appropriate for them at this time.

Talk to your healthcare provider, pharmacist, or local community health center about which vaccines you need to stay protected this fall and winter.

CBD and Drug Tests

CBD and Drug Tests: How to Pass A Drug Test Even After Taking CBD

Love the benefits of CBD but need to pass a drug test? Sometimes your work might require you to take a random drug test. And if you like taking CBD or need to take CBD for certain health conditions, you’re probably wondering:

●     Does CBD show up on a drug test?

●     Can you fail a drug test due to CBD?

●     How long does CBD stay in your system?

These are all valid questions, especially if you take CBD on a daily or regular basis. The truth is, you’re unlikely to fail a drug test or a drug screen, but there are plenty of other factors that determine whether you pass or fail. A false positive may also occur.

The good news is, you can still pass a drug test even with CBD still in your system! CBD and drug tests can be a complicated and often confusing combination, but there’s no need to be intimidated.

Not to worry! We have everything you need to know right here, from how to pass a drug test to the best CBD products so you don’t have to sacrifice your health or comfort before a drug test.

Drug screen vs Drug test

First of all, what’s the difference between a drug screen and a drug test?

You might have gathered this by now, but a drug test and a drug screen are two different things. What is a drug screen? A drug screening takes much less time and gives quicker results than a full drug test, and they’re much more affordable too. Most employers will elect for a drug screen to save on both time and money.

The catch, however, is that drug screenings test broadly for metabolites, which can result in a positive because these tests don’t specify which drug is present. They simply show a “positive”.  This makes drug screenings good for a quick assessment, but they don’t disclose the full picture.

Drug tests, meanwhile, take much longer to process results, but will provide far more information, such as the specific type of substance and how much of it has been found. If you want more reliable and in-depth results, a urine drug test is the way to go.

Will CBD show up on a drug screen or drug test?

We won’t lie to you — there is always a chance that CBD may show up in a drug screen or a drug test. Both are designed to check for THC, which is the intoxicating cannabinoid usually found in CBD products. THC can be detectable in urine for up to 30 days after use, depending on the frequency of use.

But the good news is that all legal CBD products contain 0.3% or less THC which is only a very trace amount. Ideally, this tiny amount of THC shouldn’t show up on a drug test, and even if it does, it’s nothing that should cause worry. While it’s possible for this small amount of THC to still be detected by a drug screen or drug test, it’s not a guarantee of a positive result.

But as with most things, there is still a catch. If you consume CBD supplements daily or for an extended period of time, those trace amounts of THC may build up, causing your body to store a higher amount of THC. This can result in a failed drug screen or drug test. But like we said, there are plenty of other factors to determine whether you pass or fail a drug test. When asking the question, “Will CBD oil make you fail a drug test?” you’ll have to take into account not just your CBD intake, but other factors as well, like your body composition, metabolism, and overall health.

So, does CBD show up on a drug test? Yes, it can if there is enough of it present.

Can you fail a drug test due to CBD? Yes, there is still a chance you can fail, but the likelihood of that is very low, as long as you have consumed less than the cut-off value of most drug tests.

Luckily, most federal workplace drug tests have been designed not to tag trace amounts of THC with a positive result. So as long as your legal CBD products only contain less than 0.3% THC, you should be good to go.

Will CBD cause a “false positive” drug test?

What is a false positive? As the name suggests, a false positive is when a drug test comes back positive for a substance that the user didn’t consume. False positives can flag average or below average amounts of THC as abnormal and cause you to fail a drug test.

Why false positives occur can be due to a number of reasons.

●     What drugs should not be taken with CBD? Certain medications, such as NSAIDs, dronabinol, pantoprazole, and efavirenz can interfere with drug test results

●     Mislabeled or untested THC products

●     Breathing in second-hand marijuana smoke may lead to a positive result as well.

3 ways to avoid “false positive” drug tests when taking CBD

You’d hate for a drug test to come back positive, even if it is just a false positive, so here are 3 ways you can avoid a positive or false positive result.

Consider the frequency of false positives

All things considered, false positives are actually much rarer than you think. Only 5 to 10% of drug screens actually result in false positives. Remember, drug screenings are less accurate and comprehensive than a drug test, so there is a higher chance of getting a false positive with a drug screen.

In the case of drug tests, however, false positives are exceedingly rare. If you get a false positive result in a drug screening, keep in mind that you can always request for a drug test instead to get a much better reading of your THC levels.

Let your employer or test administrator know about any medications you take

And yes, this includes any and all CBD supplements you take, whether medically or recreationally. It’s best to be completely upfront and honest rather than wait for a surprise false positive. Some medications may also affect how your body stores THC. If you let your drug test administrator know immediately, they can take that into account when determining whether you pass or fail. You could also request a note from your doctor to be given to your employer or administrator if you need to take CBD for your health and wellness.

Be careful of the CBD products you use

CBD products with incorrect labels that don’t reflect an accurate THC dosage, products that haven’t been properly tested, have been contaminated, or defective products in general, can all affect the results of a drug test. When selecting a brand or a product to use, be sure to find a high quality one from a company that you trust that’s transparent about its manufacturing and testing practices, as well as delivers accurate dosages. When in doubt, check reviews and testimonials from trusted sources, friends, and family.

Best CBD products to take so you won’t fail a drug test

Thankfully, you don’t have to give up CBD entirely right before a drug test! With the right CBD products, you can still enjoy CBD and pass a drug screening or drug test. It’s all about picking the right kind of supplements. Here’s what you should look out for, including our own recommendations!

CBD Isolate

CBD isolate products contain only CBD and no THC. The higher level of processing and limited cannabinoid profile make CBD isolate a great choice for those who are concerned about drug testing.

Wild Theory CBD Gummies Isolate are the perfect CBD isolate treat with zero THC. If you’re not a big fan of gummies, Wild Theory has isolate CBD oil that contains a potent CBD isolate formula that’s also completely free of THC.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Like the name suggests, broad spectrum CBD contains many cannabinoids, including CBD. But not THC! Broad spectrum CBD ensures that you get a “broad” variety of health-promoting cannabinoids and terpenes, but THC is specifically excluded from that profile.

Wild Theory has the best selection of broad spectrum CBD oils for all your various CBD needs. It has one-of-a-kind formulas for all your various CBD needs:

●     Wild Theory Dream CBD Oil for Sleep

●     Broad Spectrum CBD Oil for Anxiety

●     Wild Theory Soothe CBD Broad Spectrum CBD Oil for Pain is the best CBD oil for pain management

Full Spectrum CBD

Now unlike CBD isolate and broad spectrum CBD, full spectrum CBD does contain THC, but only up to 0.3%. And like we said, this small trace amount of THC shouldn’t be enough to trigger a “high” or a positive drug test result. So long as you’re not frequently taking higher doses for a long period of time, you should be fine.

Remember, however, that ANY form of hemp-derived oils — whether full spectrum CBD, broad spectrum CBD and CBD isolate — could trigger a false positive.

Research the regulations

It’s all well and good to be aware of all this, but one of the most important things you should consider are the specific rules and regulations for the state you live or work in. Different states have different laws and guidelines when it comes to CBD. Some might be stricter than others, while some could be more lax.

You should also check with your company’s regulations and policies surrounding CBD and other medications. Avoid any issues before they even happen by being upfront with your manager, HR department, or immediate superior. When in doubt, it pays to do your research.

Buy CBD with freedom!

CBD products can’t guarantee that you’ll pass any drug screening or test, but they don’t guarantee that you fail either! To minimize your chances of a positive result, be discerning with your CBD products. You can always trust CBD products that are locally grown, are great quality, and meet the highest standards for potency and purity.

Wild Theory’s CBD products are all that, plus come with a Certificate of Analysis that guarantees that you get an accurate dosage with the highest quality ingredients and manufacturing process. Buy from your local CBD store today for all your CBD needs!

CBD for Digestion

CBD for Digestion: How To Improve Digestion With CBD Products

Everyone’s had an upset stomach before, but what about more serious digestive issues? An astounding 60 to 70 million people are affected by digestive diseases and illnesses! A survey from 2022 revealed that about 40% of Americans’ daily lives are disrupted by bowel problems, stopping them from exercising, running daily errands, and spending time with loved ones, among other things.

The most common types of digestive issues are irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), celiac, colitis, Crohn’s disease, and even lactose intolerance. Common household remedies for these digestive issues include OTC drugs, exercising, and cutting back on fatty foods, sweet foods, fizzy drinks, or food that could cause gas.

But did you know that there’s an even more effective method to relieve the symptoms of these common GI issues? Try CBD for digestion! CBD has some incredible healing properties when it comes to pain and inflammation relief, but it has great potential for digestion too! CBD and digestion are two things that go hand-in-hand pretty well. For an all-natural alternative, CBD oil for digestive issues is sure to be your new go-to the next time your stomach starts acting up!

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of many beneficial compounds or cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. In fact, the cannabis plant contains thousands of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and phytocannabinoids that all have great benefits for our bodies!

CBD is known for its wide range of benefits, including relieving pain and discomfort, decreasing inflammation, soothing stress and anxiety, promoting calm and relaxation, and encouraging overall balance in the mind and body. For digestion especially, CBD has been found to help regulate appetite, reduce inflammation in the gut, and even lower cortisol levels, which prevents leaky gut syndrome and strengthens the lining of our GI tract. CBD for digestion is one of the best ways to improve gut health naturally!

What does CBD do?

Now you might be wondering, how does CBD achieve all of these astounding effects? Well, here’s how!

Our body has what is called an endocannabinoid system, or ECS. The endocannabinoid system is a dense and complex system of receptors that are found all throughout the body, including the gut.

Cannabinoids, whether coming from an external source or produced internally in our body (as is the case of endocannabinoids), attach to these receptors to influence and regulate a bunch of different biological functions in our bodies, from our digestion to our immune system. This is also how CBD manages pain, inflammation, stress response, sleep patterns, and even thinking.

When it comes to CBD for digestion the ECS utilizes CBD to aid in regulating bowel movement and elimination, as well as managing abdominal pain. Want to learn more about how to improve digestion with CBD?

Why take CBD for Digestion?

CBD oil for digestion is shown to have unique benefits for the symptoms of many gastrointestinal issues. Here are some examples of what CBD oil for stomach problems can do for you!

●     Support gastrointestinal motility: Gastrointestinal motility is the contraction of our intestinal muscles to move and propel food through the GI tract. CBD can help maintain GI motility to keep our digestive system functioning well and regulate our bowel movement, which can get thrown into disarray when we’re suffering from gastrointestinal issues. If you’re wondering how to restore gut health, this is a great method!

●     Manages pain: You probably know this by now, but one of CBD’s most famed benefits is its ability to be an analgesic, or its ability to relieve even the toughest pain. CBD is excellent for both chronic and acute pain, and CBD has even shown some promising potential in cases of hard-to-treat pain — including digestive distress!

●     Soothes inflammation: IBS, or inflammatory bowel syndrome, is one of the most common gastrointestinal issues we may face. CBD oil for IBS could be just the remedy you need! CBD is a known as a plant-based anti-inflammatory and isn’t harsh on your stomach lining either, so you don’t have to worry about it affecting your gut too much.

●     Prevents nausea and vomiting: Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms of a stomach problem and can be very unpleasant to deal with. Thankfully, with CBD, you can suppress feelings of nausea and vomiting and focus on recovery and treatment.

●     Regulates appetite: Loss of appetite is a usual symptom of digestive problems and other health issues. It’s one of the first physical signs that something could be wrong. Coincidentally, one of the things that CBD can influence through the ECS is our appetite! Other than maintaining a healthy appetite, CBD also improves satiety, which can help curb those unhealthy late-night cravings. Win-win!

The Best CBD Products to Enhance Digestion

For the most optimal relief from digestive issues and their symptoms, we highly recommend trying full spectrum CBD! What is full spectrum CBD? This CBD oil for stomach problems is made from all components and compounds found in the cannabis plant. This includes CBD plus other cannabinoids, such as THC, terpenes, flavonoids, and phytocannabinoids. When we say all parts of the cannabis plant, we do mean all.

Why is full spectrum CBD your best bet for digestive problems? That’s because of something called the entourage effect! The entourage effect suggests that you receive the benefits of the cannabis plant with enhanced potency and increased effectiveness when all the cannabinoids and other compounds are used simultaneously. This is because these compounds have a natural synergy with each other and work best when they’re together — talk about some awesome teamwork!

That’s why we’ve brought together our best selection of full spectrum CBD oil for digestive issues, whether you need mild or stronger support, from CBD topicals to full spectrum CBD gummies — all here to help you through even the most tumultuous stomach bug!

NOTE: CBD may interact with other different medications for digestion, such as Prilosec, Prevacid, and Nexium. CBD can inhibit the enzyme responsible for breaking down these particular medications, which means that these drugs can linger longer in our system. This could increase the risk of side effects, like diarrhea. Be wary of taking CBD with other medications and if you’re unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Blood clot prevention

Blood Clot– Preventive Measures

Are you a frequent long distance traveler? Do you have an upcoming surgery or have you undergone surgery recently? Then, you should be knowing risk of blood clot in your system. Blood clotting is very  risky condition but can be preventable. In medical terms it is known as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism or commonly called Venous thromboembolism (VTE).

What you need to know about blood clot to protect yourself

Anyone can be at risk for blood clots, also known by the medical term venous thromboembolism (VTE). VTE is a serious and growing public health concern, occurring either as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE).

DVT occurs when blood clots form in the deep veins of the body, usually the lower leg, thigh, or pelvis, but they can also occur in other areas of the body such as the abdomen and arms. PE occurs when a blood clot breaks off and travels through the bloodstream to the lungs. PE can be deadly.

It is important to learn about VTE so that you can protect yourself.

Key Facts:

Anyone can develop a blood clot. In the United States, as many as 900,000 people are affected by VTE each year and about 100,000 people die of PE annually.

Many factors can put you at risk for a blood clot. These include:

• having a major trauma

• having cancer

• being age 55 and older

• having a personal or family history of blood clots

• being immobile (such as being on bed rest or difficulty with walking)

• pregnancy, or using estrogen containing medications such as birth control pills, patches, and hormone replacement therapy

• being obese

Almost half of all blood clots occur either during or soon after discharge from a hospital stay or following a surgery. The more risk factors you have, the greater will be your risk of developing a blood clot.

Signs and Symptoms of DVT

About half of people with DVT have no symptoms at all. The following are the most common symptoms of DVT that occur in the affected part of the body:

• Swelling

• Pain

• Tenderness

• Redness of the skin

If you have any of these symptoms, see a professional as soon as possible.

Signs and Symptoms of PE:

You can have a PE without any symptoms of a DVT. Signs and symptoms of PE can include:

Difficulty breathing

• Faster than normal or irregular heartbeat

• Chest pain or discomfort, which usually worsens with a deep breath or coughing

• Coughing up blood

• Very low blood pressure, lightheadedness, or fainting If you have any of these symptoms, seek medical help immediately.

Get Informed and Learn How to Protect Yourself

• Talk to your family to see if you have, or have had, any family members with blood clots. Share this family history with your healthcare professional.

• Know your risks and recognize the signs and symptoms. If you have any symptoms, see your healthcare professional as soon as possible. Blood clots can be safely treated.

• If you are admitted to a hospital, or are planning to have surgery, ask your healthcare professional “What is my risk of developing a blood clot?” and ask for a risk assessment (a tool that healthcare professionals use to help determine your risk of developing a blood clot). Ask your healthcare professional

if you should receive preventive measures to protect you from having a blood clot.

• When sitting for long periods of time, such as when traveling for more than four hours, there are things you can do to improve the flow of blood in your legs.

» Move your legs frequently when on long trips or while sitting for long periods of time, and exercise your calf muscles to improve the flow of blood. Take a break to stretch your legs.

Extend your legs straight out and flex your ankles, pulling your toes toward you.

» When driving, stop the car every two hours and walk for a few minutes. While flying, when it is safe to do so, get up every hour and walk the length of the airplane cabin a few times.

Prevention is Key

There are proven ways to prevent blood clots from occurring, such as compression devices while in the hospital or blood thinning medicines called anticoagulants to prevent or treat blood clots.

Talk with your healthcare professional to learn more about the risks for blood clots and how to prevent them.
