Prepare Simple Healthy And Delicious Tomato Rasam In 10 minutes
You can prepare simple, flavorful tomato rasam without dal in about 15 minutes. This version is light, tangy, and good with rice or as a soup. This rasam recipe is gut friendly as it aids in digestion.
Simple tomato rasam without dal
Ingredients:
- Tomatoes – 2 medium, ripe
- Water – 1½ cups
- Turmeric powder -½ teaspoon
- Black pepper – ½ teaspoon
- Cumin powder – ½ teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Jaggery – a small piece, optional
- Coriander – 1–2 teaspoons, chopped
For tempering: Oil or ghee, mustard, red chili, curry leaves and hing
Preparation:
- Add one or two red chilis, one green chili, cumin, garlic cloves, tamarind, coriander and remaining cut tomato to a grinder jar and grind to a paste with little water.
- In a deep vessel heat 1 Tbsp oil (or ghee) and prepare tampering using mustard, red chili, curry leaves and hing.
- Add one cut tomato and little salt cook well. Mash the cooked tomato.
- Transfer grinded paste to cooked tomato, add water, turmeric, salt and bring it to boil. Add a small piece of jaggery if desired.
- Bring the rasam to a gentle simmer. Once it becomes frothy and aromatic, turn off the heat.
- Sprinkle little chopped coriander and serve hot with rice or transfer to drinking cups to drink like soup.
