Poison in Apricot

Apricot also contains Vitamin C and beta carotene. But avoid its seed or kernel as it contains poison in the form of cyanide.

It is called amygdalin also referred to as laetrile. In body this laetrile converts cyanide and becomes poisonous.

Consuming seeds can cause serious harm and side effect.  Some companies sell Laetrile as Vitamin B17, a controversial supplement.

Eating apricot kernel to get Vitamin B17 only increases chances of poisoning oneself.
