Overdependence on AI Can Affect Confidence

Overdependence on AI is a serious concern in children. If children start asking AI for every answer instead of trying to solve problems themselves, they may gradually become less confident in their own ability to think, solve problems and make decisions.

When children rely too heavily on AI to answer questions, solve problems, or complete schoolwork, they may get fewer opportunities to think independently and solve problems on their own. Over time, this can make them doubt their own abilities and feel that they need AI whenever they face something difficult.

Children build confidence by trying, making mistakes, and finding solutions themselves. AI can be helpful as a learning assistant, but it should not replace that process. Encouraging children to try first, use AI for guidance, and then verify the answer can help them develop both confidence and independent thinking skills.

A useful rule that adults can implement for children is: Think first, Ask AI second. The goal should be to strengthen a child’s abilities without overdependence on AI and convince them that they can work without technology.
