Acupuncture can improve health

Acupuncture is a 3,000-year-old healing technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine. If someone is suffering from less sleep and insomnia or tired of using same medicine for pains or eating disorders like obesity then acupuncture can help them.  It is a simple procedure of using thin needles in to the skin to treat pain and other conditions. This simple procedure has greater benefits. It helps to rejuvenate the entire body and gives a fresh start for life.

“Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being”

How does acupuncture works?

Acupuncture uses thin needles to treat the body for various conditions. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called “qi” flows along specific pathways, called meridians, throughout the body. Acupuncturists believe that people develop conditions in their body when the energy is blocked. Use of acupuncture helps in releasing or unblocking the energy and treatment helps in the flow of energy in the entire body.  Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites – commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints.

When we consult an acupuncturist – he or she will ask look into our health history. They examine our tongue’s shape, color, and coating, pulse and if required will perform some additional physical examinations depending on the individual health needs. Using these unique assessment tools, the acupuncturist will be able to recommend a proper treatment plan to address a particular condition.

During the actual procedure or treatment patient will lay down on a treatment table while acupoints are stimulated in various areas of the body. Once the acupunctue points are recognized sterile needles will be inserted to unblock the energy. There will be very minimal discomfort or no discomfort at all while needles are placed in the acupoints. Needles will be retained on the body for about 5 to 30 minutes. After the treatment, patient should feel relaxed and energized. In rare cases, while carrying out acupuncture heat, pressure or mild electric current is used along with the needles.

When patient feels some itching sensation or numbness, it gives a hint to the acupuncturists that the energy is getting unblocked. Providers believe that this is a sign that the energy flow, or chi, has been accessed.

After the needle is placed, your provider may roll the needle slightly back and forth. Or he or she may use heat or electrical current on the needle.

The frequency and number of treatments differ from person to person. Some people experience dramatic relief in the first treatment. For complex or long-standing chronic conditions, one to two treatments per week for several months may be recommended.

Benefits of acupuncture: Acupuncture offers a wide range of benefits. It can treat conditions like nausea, vomiting related to pregnancy, chemotherapy and post-surgery pain.

Acupuncture is used to treat the following problems:

  • Headache, asthma, dental pain, insomnia, menstrual cramps, drug addiction, neck pain migraines, inflamed and itchy skin, dry eye, obesity, uterine fibroids, infertility, stroke, impotence, glaucoma, Parkinson’s disease, smoking, sinusitis, bronchitis, cold, cataracts, conjunctivitis, paralysis, lower back pain, liver problem, knee pain, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis. fibromyalgia etc.
