The lens is normally clear and helps focus light on the retina, the “film” at the back of the eye. Cataracts are like a dirty or fogged-up window in your eye. Cataract surgery removes that cloudy “window” and replaces it with a new clear one, letting light pass through properly so you can see clearly again.

People who are above 35 may develop cataract. The other causes of cataracts include conditions like diabetes, trauma, some medications, improper diet, smoking and exposure of eyes to excessive UV light.
