Chewing gum is a common practice around the world. It is habit to keep mouth odor free and belief is that it gives exercise to muscles.

In fact, chewing sugar free gum is considered as good exercise to tone cheek muscles and it also said to reduce plaque acids in mouth.

If chewing enters stomach, body does understand that the material that came inside should be exit through stool because digestive system cannot digest the gum. It is something like those fibers which we cannot digest and pass via bowel movements.
