What exactly Silicone cookwares?

Silicon cookware contains bonded silicon and oxygen. It is synthetic rubber. Cookware made from silicone has gained popularity in recent years. It is because, it is staining resistant, nonstick and good heat conductor, tolerates extreme temperature. There are not known health hazards associated with silicon cookware materials. Silicone bakeware is a popular material among bakers. It is durable and nonstick, moreover very attractive. They are tolerant to both heat and cold and can be used at temperatures up to 428 F and it can go directly in freezer, microwave safe and easy to clean. It is inert material and silicone rubber does not react with beverages, food and does not cause fumes either.

Only concern with silicone cookware is, there appears to be some odor in the material. One way to test it is, if you see white materials when you twist the baking sheet or baking spoon, then the material is poor quality one. Make sure that silicone cookware is manufactured by reputable manufacturers.
