Human head transplant -Italian neurosurgeon Sergio Canavero announced experiment to reattach the head of a corpse to a body. A test performed showed it was possible to reattach spine, nerves, blood vessels, veins and skin from head to body. An experimental procedure is 36 hours long one , was conducted in China by Dr. Xiaoping Ren and his team who last year grafted a head onto the body of a monkey. This year an expectation is to carry out the procedure using a live, but brain dead, human being who is willing for an organ donation. Professor Canavero, director of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group, promised a full report of the Harbin Medical University team’s procedure and timeframe for the live transplant with in few days or within this year. Dr. Canavero has a volunteer, 31-year-old Russian software development manager Valery Spiridonov, who suffers from a debilitating muscle-wasting disease.
