How to modify pigeon pose
For some yogi’s it is difficult to bend the leg and place it behind the arms in pigeon pose. Try these variations and get help using yoga props.
- Lie on your back and bend one knee. Now place the ankle of the opposite leg on the folded knee. Insert your hand behind the thigh of folded leg and hold it for few breaths. If you cannot, then just place the ankle on bent knee of opposite leg (Picture A)
- As shown in Pictures B1 & B2, use yoga props – place the yoga mat or yoga bolster under the folded leg thigh. Place your hands on the block or extend your arms on the mat.
- Place a yoga block under the hip of folded leg (Picture C).
- Use a sofa and perform pigeon pose by extending one leg on the floor while keeping folded leg on the sofa as shown in Picture D.
Don’t forget to breath, inhale and exhale 4-5 times
