Hives and Impetigo

Hives: These are common skin condition.  Itchy and red bumps that appear on the skin due to allergic reaction. It is caused generally because of reaction of body to food or drug.

People who are allergic to certain drug and food more likely to get hives. Sometimes infections and stress can also cause hives.

One way to avoid getting hives is to be aware of food and drugs that can lead to hives. Staying calm and managing stress helps too.

Impetigo: The skin condition caused by staphylococcal (staph or sometimes by streptococcus (strep) bacterial is impetigo. It is common in young children aged between 2 to 6.

When bacterial get into skin through wounds, insect bites or scratch a red mark like hive appears and later turns to pimple like sores surrounded by red skin. It can appear on any part of the body. As the sore advances, it develops pus causing pain to child and eventually breaks.

Treating wound, scratches is one of the best option. Clean the area and make sure to check it is not turning into impetigo. Mild antibiotics in severe cases can help. Talk to doctor in case child has severe impetigo and it is unbearable.
