Giaourtiohobia - Fear of Yogurt and Geumophobia - Fear of Taste

Giaourtiophobia: Fear of Yogurt and Geumophobia: Fear of Taste

Giaourtiophobia: Fear of yogurt is Giaourtiophobia. Millions of people in the world are lactose intolerant. However, not all of them are afraid of yogurt. But, for others it is one of the reason. Another reason is knowing there are bacteria inside yogurt. We all know these bacteria are good for us. However, the thought of eating bacteria can cause panic in people who are afraid of yogurt. One more reason for the fear is, taste, smell and appearance of yogurt.

Geumophobia: Fear of taste or flavors is geumophobia. Geuma is a Greek word means taste. People who suffer from this phobia avoid tasting food and seek out foods that have less taste like bland food. This restricts their diet to very bland foods. They avoid functions or visiting restaurants because they might have to taste unfamiliar tastes and flavors. Even if they visit, they might avoid eating or might get a dish that they are familiar with. It is often a common phobia. Gustatory agnosia or lack of sensing smell and taste is different from geumophobia.

Talking to psychologist and understanding about the foods can help these two phobias. Introducing oneself slowly to food items (or yogurt in first case) can help.
