The fear of fruits is due to fructose sugar present in all fruits. It is catching up with many thanks to too many biased information about fructose.
Fructose has been implicated in many conditions like blood fat, uric acid or increased fatty liver, insulin resistance and diabetes or weight gain. The other reasons not to eat fruit, fear of seed germination in stomach or getting infested with intestinal worms.
People forget that with fructose is natural sugar present in the fruits. Moreover, both fructose and glucose go hand in hand. People who are afraid of eating fruits need to realize that we consume more added sugar through various types of food that can harm our body than simple fruit sugar.
This phobia is generally treated through behavioral therapy and anti-anxiety medicines. Self-help and family support to overcome phobia is highly recommended.
