Controlling tobacco should be a priority : Despite a steady reduction in tobacco usage, globally tobacco usage kills over 8 million people every year. Between 2000 to 2016 the smoking prevalence rate has declined to 20% from 27%. The pace of action, however to reduce demand for tobacco and related diseases and deaths globally lagging behind. The goal is to reduce tobacco use by 30% by 2025, however if the current trend continues, the world will achieve a reduction of only 22% by 2025 according to WHO.
