Conditions caused by tobacco usage : The four deadly diseases one can develop due to tobacco usage and exposure to tobacco are: Tuberculosis, Asthma, lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Tuberculosis: Also known as TB, tuberculosis is a top infectious killer in the world. In 2017 1.6 million people lost their lives and 10 million people fell ill due to TB. TB affects lungs and causes severe cough with blood and severe chest pain. The bacteria that enters the body causes infection or a status called Latent TB. Latent TB can later turn into active disease when the immune system suffers. Smoking and exposure to tobacco increases the risk of developing latent TB and results in death. Secondary smokers also are under risk of progression of latent TB infection to active disease. If not treated, person will die due to respiratory failure. Quitting tobacco and smoking is one way to get back lost health.
