Bisphenol are widely used chemical present in plastic, lining of metal cans- epoxy resins etc. It is present in baby bottles, toys, canned goods and medical devices.
BPA is present in thermal receipts – paper receipts from movie tickets, airline tickets etc.
Other sources of BPA: Coffee cups, dental selants, plastic wrap, soda cans, kitchen utensils – plastic storage box, DVD, CD’s etc.
It is endocrine disruptor and raises blood pressure. It can decrease fertility, act negatively on nervous system, immune system and affects onset of puberty. Factors like temperature can make BPA get into food and drinks.
According to a study conducted by NHS, BPA can enter body and retain for longtime. It is found in breastmilk, newborn babies. It might store in the mother’s body and cross through placenta.
As an endocrine disruptor it causes hormonal imbalance, infertility, low sperm count and early puberty.
Avoid plastics and BPA containing materials as much as possible.
